Christmas Blues

Colored lights along the streets.

Houses are decorated with red and green.

The smell of pine and fresh cookies—

There’s joy in the air for all except me.

The holiday concerts, the carols we sing

Are enjoyed by all, but badly performed by me.

The Christmas gifts given with love and care

But there’s the stress and the pressure no one else seems to share.

Christmas break is a rest, a warm week out of the snow.

But beforehand, all the tests with the answer I don’t know.

So, Christmas is peaceful,

The holidays joyful,

But hopefully once they’re over I can finally rest.
