For the first time in the program’s history, Butler Writers was proud to unveil two separate print publications of student work. Young poets and storytellers from Broad Ripple Magnet School saw their creativity memorialized in the second edition of Ripple Effect. Additionally, Butler Writers established a new student lit mag at Shortridge High School called Reverberations, which pays homage to the historic institution’s legendary Daily Echo student newspaper from the early 20th century. Previously, Butler Writers had published a journal of student work called Exclusive Ink.
Reverberations features cover art from famous Shortridge alum Kurt Vonnegut. Credit goes to graphic designer Andrea Boucher for the inspired call-back and for all of her efforts on the two layouts. The printing of two journals would not have been possible without generous support from The Jerry L. and Barbara J. Burris Foundation and The Ruth Lilly Philanthropic Foundation. Much gratitude to everyone involved with the Butler Writers program for another inspiring and successful school year.
